MOVEMENTS

Here are the eight basic controls used in the game.

LEFT - BACK DEFENCE
LEFT + UP - BACK FLIP
UP - JUMP
UP + RIGHT - FRONT FLIP
RIGHT - FORWARD
RIGHT + DOWN - CROUCH OFFENSE
DOWN - CROUCH
DOWN + LEFT - CROUCH DEFENCE

PUNCHES/KICKS
Punches and kicks can be executed in all control positions.

One fire button method: Punch - FIRE & FORWARD
Kick - FIRE & BACK

Two fire button method: Punch & Kick are activated with their own appropriate buttons.

PUNCHES/KICKS (OPTIONS MODE)
The three basic punches are:
Light Punch (JAB) - Quick, little damage.
Medium Punch (STRONG) - Fair damage.
Hard Punch (FIERCE) - Great damage, but slow.

The three basic kicks are:
Light Kick (SHORT) - Quick, very little damage.
Medium Kcik (FORWARD) - Strong and fairly quick.
Hard Kick (ROUNDHOUSE) - Powerful, but slow.

CLOSE ATTACKS

These are techniques to be used only when two fighters are together. They fall into two categories: They fall into two categories: Throws and Holds. Throws allow you to grab an opponent and throw them across the room. Holds allow you to grab an opponent and smash them repeatedly. To execute either, you push against your opponent and press Fire. Each character's close attack characteristics are listed in their profiles. Their efficiency is down to your skill and judgement.

THE TOURNAMENT COMMENCES

Eight of the world's greatest street fighters have been gathered together to see which of them has the strength, skill and courage to challenge the mysterious Grand Masters. Each fighter has the power to earn the title of World Warrior but which one is up to you. Select GAME START on the title screen and select your champion for the tournament. When the tournament commences, your fighter has to travel the world to meet one of the seven other challengers. When the match begins, it's down to you and your skills to defeat your opponent. Every time you hit him, his energy meter will decrease. Send your opponents energy meter totally red and he will be out for the count. Win two out of three bouts to win.

USING THE V.S. BATTLE

This allows two players to compete and keep track of results. When the title screen appears, move the marker next to 1 or 2 players and press Fire. The next screen shows each character's results. When each player has selected their character, press FIRE to continue.

Two options are displayed; HANDICAP and STAGE SELECT. Player One can move up or down to highlight either option.

HANDICAP - When this option is highlighted, both players can select an attack level which determines the level of damage a player's kicks and punches will do. The higher the attack level the greater the damage. This allows two players of differing skills to contest an even match.

STAGE SELECT - Using this, Player One can select the match location, and start the match by pressing FIRE. After a match, the screen displays each player's record against each character. This is when Player One can press FIRE to continue, quit, or erase the records. To continue, both players return to the Player Selection Screen and repeat the process. The Option Mode allows you to modify certain parts of the game. When the title screen appears, press up or down to move the marker next to OPTION MODE and press FIRE. When the next screen appears, move up or down to highlight the option you wish to change.

DIFFICULTY - This changes the difficulty of the computer opponent. Push left or right to select 0 - 7, 0 being easy. Not all levels include a finishing screen.

TIME LIMIT - This allows you to turn the Time Limit ON/OFF. If yoiu select ON the fighters will have 99 seconds to knock each other out. If you select OFF, the fight continues until one player is knocked out.

KEYBOARD CONTROLS - Keys are definable.

HINTS & TIPS

To become a true street fighter requires patience and practice. Here are some hints to help you get started.

1. Back Defence and Defensive Crouch positions are used to block attacks.

2. Wait for your opponent to make a mistake and then attack.

3. Use your Special Moves as little as possible. They can leave you vulnerable.

4. A Fireball nullifies a Fireball.

5. If your opponent becomes dizzy, inflict as much damage to him as possible.

6. Practice using all of the characters. You will learn quickly their strengths and weaknesses.

7. Back Defence and Defensive Crouch positions block Special Moves, but be prepared to lose a little energy.

8. Set the difficulty level in the Option Mode to 0 to learn how to use your punches and kicks.

Close Attacks - Shoulder Throw, Bear Hug, Knee Bash.

Special Moves:
Hundred Hand Slap - Press punch repeatedly. Very fast. Can quickly defeat most oponents.

Sumo Head Butt - Press (left) for 2 sec's, then (right) and punch. Best at short range. Inflicts only moderate damage.

BLANKA
Date of Birth: 2.12.1966

Close Attacks - Head Bite, Double Knee, Head Butt.

Special Moves:
Electricity - Press the punch button repeatedly. 1000 volts shall befall anyone who touches him at this time.

Rolling Attack - Press (left) for 2 sec's, then (right) and punch. Can inflict huge amounts, but Blanka, at this time, can be vulnerable.

GUILE

Close Attacks - Back Breaker, Knee Drop, Suplex.

Special Moves:
Sonic Boom - Press (left) for 2 sec's, then (right) and punch. Anyone hit shall be stunned.

Flash Kick - Press (down) for 2 sec's, then (up) and kick. The energy barrier produced is virtually impenetrable.

KEN
Date of Birth: 2.14.1965

Close Attacks - Power Slam, Pile Driver, Alley Oop.

Special Moves:
Spinning Clothesline - Press punch repeatedly. Used to clobber opponents and also to avoid fireballs.

Spinning Pile Driver - Press (down+left, down, down, down+right) then punch. An old wrestling move with an added twist.

DHALSIM
Date of Birth: 11.22.1952
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 107lbs (he can change height and weight to some extent.)

Close Attacks - Yoga Nugie, Arm Throw, Head Butt, Spinning Attack.

Special Moves:
Yoga Fire - Press (down, down+right, right) continuously and punch. A ball of flame that will incinerate anything.

Yoga Flame - Press (down+left, down, down+right, right) continuously and punch. At close range, Dhalsim's fiery breath gets good results.
